My Story
My name is Michael Woods, and I am a native of Gaffney, South Carolina. I have a wife and two children that mean the world to me. I love fishing, and you can often find me down at Perry's Fishing Lake. I also love racing, from watching NASCAR to building roll cages. I have always known that hard work would take me places in life. I was not afraid of long hours, commutes or getting my hands dirty. I try to have fun every day and be positive. I thank God for all my blessings.
My Business
I have worked in Industrial and Manufacturing services my whole adult career - for Insulating Services, Inc. out of Charlotte the first 15 years and now for ThermaFlo Incorporated in Newberry for the past 15 years. I have been a loyal employee, learning from great people and seeking formal education along the way. Although I completed many side-projects in my 15+ years welding, my own business Woods Welding and Fabrication, LLC, officially opened in summer 2017.
My Brand
I finished two years of study and application and got my Welding Certificate in 2009. I was so proud of this accomplishment. Some of my first personal jobs were assembling and repairing race cars with a buddy at Messer's Racing. I eventually bought my own crate sportsman and became a dirk track race car driver - my childhood dream. I labeled my car with 68. Kind of silly, but the number represents my kids and their birth years. The number 68 is now a part of everything I do with my business because it keeps me inspired. It reminds me of why I am doing this work in the first place - for the betterment of my family.
